SketchUp users are architects, designers, builders, makers and engineers. They are the people who shape the physical world. They are important, and they deserve great tools because great tools produce great work.
At SketchUp, we do our best to make great tools for drawing. For our users, drawing is thinking. They draw to explore ideas, to figure things out, to show other people what they mean. They draw because they love it, and because nothing great was ever built that didn't start with a great drawing.

What can you build with just one component?
Very cool ambient maps! 👍🔥
Not sure where to make a general suggestion, so thought I'd start here. Really wish you'd do a lesson on advanced texture mapping...so not just wrapping an image around a curved surface like a cylinder, but something more organic. For interior designers, a perfect example would be wrapping a fabric with linear print around an upholstered object such as a couch. This would be a really helpful lesson for many. Thanks!
This is so manual, time consuming, and not practical if you have a big detailed plan. You can simply convert image to vector and you will have editable lines
Unfortunately I keep getting weird geometries underneath that are not yours and upon deleting them I lose the shape itself.
One thing I dislike about UA-cam "Shorts" is that sometimes, as is the case here, I can't figure out when it was published! NO comments (before this one) to guess at the date, nothing in the description. @SketchUp - Please put the publication date in the description of shorts!
What platform are you watching on? On mobile and desktop, the publication date is listed in the description next to Likes and Views. Right now it says "7h Ago"
@@SketchUp I'm accessing it as follows: Start at my UA-cam Home page in a desktop browser (Chrome). You Tube in this listing has no publication time in this view - for "Shorts". I right click on the thumbnail and open in a new tab - STILL no time shown (This was the state when I made my first comment). I also tried, just now, accessing through the SketchUp channel page. Time NOT shown when I choose the "Shorts" tab. AND I just now tried accessing through the UA-cam app on my Android phone - STILL no time/date/"... ago" information!
Click the three dots button next to the video and select Description
@@SketchUp Did that - and no time reference in the description through my desktop browser - and no "three dots" option at all in the Android App!
The UA-cam help center may be a good spot for you to find a solution - support.google.com/youtube/gethelp
Subtract here is like subtrahend - minuend😂
What is the app?
SketchUp 👍
App name please
SketchUp 😉
the math was ok; it was the selection location that made the placement shy of the full riser height.
Thank you! I wonder if there is an updated tutorial, though.
MUITO BOM
Aerial maps! Cool! Lets fly the drone! 👍🏻🔥
It would be great if sketchup content creators made it clear in the beginning if this is applicable to sketcup free, sketchup pro or both. Without the up front info, one has to watch the entire video to find out.
Good note, thanks for the feedback!
Nice! 👍🏻🔥
Can I use this feature without an internet connection?
Yes! The scanning and processing take place on the device, so you don't need an active internet connection to use the feature.
Scaling! Wooo! Hold on, precission scaling! 👍🏻🔥
Grouping and selecting all instances! Nice! 👍🏻🔥
Important to use the zoom more as you want to rotate with more precision! Got to look those points! 👍🏻🔥
Only watched 5 mins in snippets. It looked arduous. The design process in one's head evolves minute to minute. In a way one draws then gives oneself prompts as to where to go next constantly. AI feels so crude compared with that. And it looks like it introduces a constant fight between it and one's natural inclinations. It is good at iteration where that's appropriate but who wants the same again, again? again.
WEEZER🙀🙀🙀
Aaron … you always the best
If all dimensions are right height is 10'-6" riser is 7" and also tread length is right so your after selection to drop location is wrong ( this is my theory)pls explain your opinion thank you
Is this only available on Sketchup Pro? Can it also be used for scanning interior if vehicles to design buildouts, or more limited to straight shapes.
It's for SketchUp Go, not Pro..ie SketchUp for iPad. I can be used for car interiors. See this video Matt did: ua-cam.com/users/shortst7Nd5o7uZRc?feature=share
I was at the AIA National Conference. Had a nice chat with Sumele, Sandra, and Gopal! Looking forward to using the new and future features. Thanks for keeping up the development of my favorite modeling software!
I want to use it on Android as well.
Is revit easy or sketch up?
SketchUp!
“That will teach those cabinets a thing or two.” 😂
My first thoughts when i saw the title, i thought sketchup finally figured out generating geometry using AI 😅
Yeah. I don’t need no stinkin’ diffusion.
The biggest thing for me is when you come back to an arc, it should bring up the measurement to the center of the circle. It's measurement--indicating the radius. Idk if I'm understanding that right, but hopefully you get that.
I promised Mike to send my work on the columns taken from a drawing by Vitruvius: to which address should I send the clips?
The extension could create an animated video?
hello Aaron! many thanx for your tips throughout the years! I would like your opinion about a value for money laptop! is there any machine you strongly recommend? I usually use sketchup with enscape and v-ray for rendering. Thanx again!
Thanks, this will be useful
Great extension, thanks for this one.
Pick the middle snap instead of endpoint?
Awesomeness
❤❤❤❤
Can this also show a movement of a piece? Ie: step3 lift component A - step 4 place component B - step 5 lower component A.
Lots of cool architectural features. Looks like Sketchup is no longer competing in the maker space since complex milled and printed shapes are still a problem.
Turn up the output volume
Thanks for the feedback!
I followed all your steps but my image won't project or wrap around the entire sphere. It leaves a blank space.
You may need to scale the texture up before projecting. If you still have issues after trying that, you should post on our forum (forums.sketchup.com), where you can provide more information and get a more detailed solution.
Excellent video, this is going to be so very useful to me. While I also appreciate the uncluttered UI, there is one thing I can think of that would be a nice-to-have and that would be a segment playback feature that could loop. The UI would probably look something like two sliders to choose the segment start and end points, and then a play button to step through the segment at a rate defined by the user (x seconds per step), and then finally a check box to enable looping of the segment playback. This is just me thinking aloud... don't take it too serious. Even as-is, this is a fantastic extension. Thank you @christinaeneroth6895 for this!
I love the simplicity of this extension. Great job Christina. Downloading this Now. Thanks as always Aaron.
Thanks. This looks great. I have a project that could use this. I'm going to colour code the sequence / groups too. I preferred the grouped construction with broad steps. If you are trying to explain to a contractor how you assume a structure will be built then less is more. The granular steps with every component in order is too much like telling someone how to do their job. Please don't tell your contractor how to do their job.
Haha, adding a step in the middle of the sequence is big reason why I made the extension. I used to use scenes or tags and reordering meant you hade to change all subsequent steps :S . Now you just type the new number. Btw, if you get tired of typing 1, 2, 3 etc, you can type 99 on every item and they will be added to the end of the sequence (or 999 if you have more than 100 steps). Just go through the pieces in the right order.
Very nice extension Christina, Thank you!
Thanks, Christina! Love to learn something new! Even in the comments of a learning video!
This is great. What I would like to see is that it also can be exported to a mp4 which is what I usually do using scenes. That way I can send the mp4 to a client.
Thank you Aaron, I can see this being very useful for progressive construction drawings. Christina Eneroth is such a talented Architect, and geek (her word). I use her Solid Tools, Flatten to Plane and Material Area Counter plugins almost every time I use Sketchup.
Fantastic! Perhaps in the future this extension can include setting the steps together with dif scenes so they act as keyframes to export an animation while the steps are played out.
Is there a video on getting started with Sketchup Pro 2024? I want to learn the program I spent $400 on but I need Sketchup for Dummies. Sketchup tutorials are too technical for a complete novice. Really, I don’t know where to start and I want to design some rooms and know what fits etc. Please be nice.
Welcome to SketchUp! Happy to have you here. The best place to start for beginners is the fundamentals course on SketchUp Campus learn.sketchup.com/courses/sketchup-fundamentals-part-1
Eneroth pulling another great extension from her hat !
It can be useful as moodboard in the very first start.
Absolutely! Diffusion excels at generating mood/general vibes imagery.
